Someone asked a pertinent question: “How is it that one can be told that the spirit of (Christ, Truth, Life, Light) is not in them…when we all come from one Spirit?”
Yea, I suppose the religious-minded preachers would probably have interpreted the verse from Romans 8 out of context. I decided to study the chapter from myself and learnt that it was talking about those who were carnally minded, that is, who had a separation mindset, hence they would experience death or condemnation, due to having a sense of alienation. In contrast, those who are spiritually minded would experience life and peace. These are the ones who have the Spirit of sonship, so to speak.
So the whole chapter, to me, is not talking about so-called christians versus non-christians, but rather it is talking about the mindset of people. When people realise we all come from one Spirit and we are one with our Father and with one another as beloved children, there would be no place for fear and condemnation in their heart. Aye, our true identity as Love is independent of our performance.
In short, to have the Spirit of Christ is to have Christ consciousness in our mindset. It is about awakening to the truth that we are beloved children of God and we are one with God who is Love.
