I have come to see that spirituality is subjective, simple, childlike and free from dogma and discrimination. People’s idea of God is a mirror projection of themselves – the idea of a vengeful god is a mirror projection of the ego, whereas the idea of an all-loving God is a mirror projection of our highest self.
To me, Easter (or the message of the cross) is about discovering that all humanity is the offspring (or sons and daughters) of God. We are the Christ manifested in manifold aspects of His grace and glory. It reminds me of Paul’s words in Acts 17 – “for In Him we live and move and have our beings, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘for we are also His offspring’.
I see the gospel as being about the mystery of Christ revealed in every person, not about worshipping one God-Man called Jesus. I would say the religious idea of Jesus as the only way to God, as held by mainstream or evangelical christianity, is based on the illusion of separation because this idea presupposes that we are separate from Jesus.
Jesus is one with us, so we are the way, the truth and the life, reconciled to ourselves by divine unconditional love.
