“How to Boost Your Confidence—You Are Worthy…Time to Fly!” by Ralph Smart

I can relate to Ralph Smart’s sharings in the video, such as how to find courage to make videos when we are (initially) shy and are worried about what others may think about us. I agree that one way to boost our confidence is to realise we are worthy, and let go of society’s expectations. Yes, we can learn to be happy with our (perfect) imperfections because there is nothing wrong with us. Like what he shared, whenever we allow someone else to give us value, we lose confidence, so to build confidence in ourselves is to love and trust ourselves for who we are uniquely and truly. I also agree that we have to give ourselves value every day because it can be difficult living in a performance-based world that depends on others to give their approval (in school, at workplace, etc), so we have to create our own world.

He also shared that sometimes he reflected on his own video and wondered whether he should have said something else, and he realises when people can resonate with his video, that is great, but if not, that is ok with him. Indeed, our perception of ourselves is what really matters because it is what shapes and governs our reality. I agree we all have to let go even of labels we used to give ourselves (based on what others think), and we need to discover our inner greatness, which is key to building our confidence.

And yes, it is an ongoing process. As he put it, freedom is when we have nothing to lose, and follow our own path and listen to our inner voice and go with our own intuition and our own affirmation, instead of always going by what others say. I also learnt that 90% of communication is non-verbal, as our body never lies, which is our body language. The way we carry ourselves, the way we dress, the way we keep our heads up are the secret of body language. It also helps to be around the “right” people and connect with people who can build us up, and help fulfill our dreams. Yes, going back to Nature can also restore our energy and refresh our spirit, as we breathe in fresh air and reconnect with Mother Earth. Finally, I learnt that when we eat more plant-based foods instead of processed foods that contain no (or little) enzymes, we can experience more life and develop more confidence.

All in all, I find this message useful as a reminder to love ourselves and realise we are living in a beautiful universe (that we co-create). We can learn to live in the now and experience the power of now, so that we can enjoy life and stay well and healthy.
